¿POR QUÉ HABLAR GROSERAMENTE?

Realmente no sé si es un esnobismo, una forma en que las personas sienten que son geniales, o una estupidez humana del momento y una creciente falta de buena educación.

Pero francamente, llega a ser una verdadero golpe en mi cuando escucho o leo a alguien decir cosas usando un lenguaje grosero, malas palabras e ideas que reflejan una falta de buena educación, una falta de respeto por los demás y por ellos mismos, una verdadera denigración del ser humano como tal.

Actores, periodistas y políticos en América Latina han perdido, --con excepciones que merecen ser reconocidas-- la dignidad de la expresión y la belleza de nuestro idioma.

Aquellos que provocan disgusto al escucharles o leerles, tal vez piensan que son más populares, que llegan a más personas, o finalmente, no son conscientes de la miseria de su vocabulario. Sólo pueden prevalecer en una sociedad que ha perdido sus valores más preciados, que ha sido denigrada y diezmada en su calidad de vida.

Hagan un esfuerzo por escribir bien, por hablar bien, por referirse a los demás con respeto y gentileza, y sobre todo, usando la riqueza del idioma español.

Y esta apelación está especialmente dirigida a todos aquellos que se consideran comunicadores. Presentadores de televisión, periodistas, comentaristas, personas que escriben crónicas o editoriales, personas que llenan las páginas de las revistas.

Son enormemente responsables porque el público en general consume lo que producen y, por lo tanto, no pueden quitarse de encima su responsabilidad, no sólo en la formación de opinión, sino en la forma en que esta opinión se transmite y se comparte.

WHY SPEAK GROSSLY?

I really don't know if it is for snob, away people feel they are cool, or a human stupidity of the time and an incrasing lack of good education.

But quite frankly it becomes a real shock to me when I hear or read someone saying things using a gross language, bad words, and ideas that reflect a lack of good education, a lack of respect for others and for themselves, a real denigration of the human being as such.

Actors, journalists, politicians in Latin America have lost –with exceptions that deserve to be recognized— the dignity of the expression and the beauty of our language.

Those that provoke disgust to hear or read, maybe think that are more popular, that reach more people, or finally, they are not conscious of the misery of their vocabulary.  They only can prevail in a society that has lost its most cherished values, that have been denigrated and decimated in its quality of life.

Make an effort to write well, to speak well, to refer to others with respect and gentleness, and above all, using the richness of the Spanish language.

And this appeal is especially directed to all those who consider themselves communicators. TV anchors, reporters, commentators, people who write chronicles or editorials, people who fill the pages of magazines.

They are enormously responsible because the general public consume what they produce and therefore, they can’t take away of them their responsibility not only in the formation of opinion but in the way this opinion is transmitted and shared.

WHAT IS A MAN?

That’s the question posed by the song “My Way”.

As a human creature, is feeble, subject to death at any moment, but in the meantime, someone who wants to be recognized for who he is, no matter what he has or not achieved in life, no matter which is the environment in which he is living.

Man is someone who thinks, feels, proclaims things, understands, is passionate for a woman, politics or a sports team. But also discuss, fights, sometimes even looks for being controversial, and when his ideas are exhausted goes directly to the personal attack, verbally or physically.

He tends to be quiet –in general— but there is the type of man who is essentially violent, who appeals to violence almost immediately, thinking that violence gives him preponderance or respect from others.

Man is also someone who develops beliefs in many things. From superstition to witchcraft, to extraterrestrials, to ghosts, and it is difficult to persuade that he is wrong, that his beliefs are nonsensical, totally irrational and absurd. He needs to believe in someone or something.

The worst thing is to believe in someone, a man as he is because it is easy to become betrayed or let down. Something that happens generally with politicians but that also could happen with religious leaders.

Man is essentially left to his own devices. 

That is the most important side of him. He has to give sense to his life. He has to get respect from the others, he has to be trusted, and above all, he has to learn how to love, and love to the point of self-sacrifice. Because only loving all the way, he becomes really a man.

And all that I say about man applies equally to woman, the other human being, because both together make up humanity.

¿QUÉ ES UN HOMBRE?

Esa es la pregunta que plantea la canción "My Way".

Como criatura humana, es débil, está sujeto a la muerte en cualquier momento, pero mientras tanto, es alguien que quiere ser reconocido por lo que es, sin importar lo que tenga o no haya logrado en la vida, sin importar cuál sea el entorno en que esté viviendo.

El hombre es alguien que piensa, siente, proclama cosas, entiende, es apasionado por una mujer, la política o un equipo deportivo.

Pero también discute, pelea, a veces incluso busca ser controvertido, y cuando sus ideas se agotan va directamente al ataque personal, verbal o físicamente.

Tiende a estar tranquilo -en general- pero existe el tipo de hombre que es esencialmente violento, que recurre a la violencia casi de inmediato, pensando que la violencia le da preponderancia o logra el respeto de los demás.

El hombre también es alguien que desarrolla creencias en muchas cosas. De la superstición a la brujería, a los extraterrestres, a los fantasmas, y es difícil persuadirlo de que está equivocado, de que sus creencias no tienen sentido, son totalmente irracionales y absurdas. Él necesita creer en alguien o algo.

Lo peor es creer en alguien, un hombre al igual que él, porque es fácil ser traicionado o defraudado. Algo que sucede generalmente con los políticos, pero que también puede suceder con líderes religiosos.

El hombre esencialmente está dejado a sus propios recursos.

Ese es el lado más importante de él. Él tiene que darle sentido a su vida.

Tiene que ser respetado por los demás, tiene que ser creído y sobre todo, debe aprender a amar y amar hasta el punto del auto-sacrificio.

Porque sólo amando todo el camino, se convierte realmente en un hombre.

Y todo lo que digo sobre el hombre se aplica igualmente a la mujer, al otro ser humano, porque ambos juntos forman la humanidad.
