THE REALM OF THE DIVINE

Good Friday, April 10, 2020.

Warning: this is a Holy Week reflection. Not everybody will be able to understand it, and no everybody, therefore, will accept it or agree with it. I already know that. This is written for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see, as Jesus said. (Matthew 13:9-15).

I will try to be brief and explicit.

Jesus announced that “the kingdom of God is near” and called to “repent”.

Repentance is the door you have to open to have access to the kingdom of God.

Jesus said: “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door” (Luke 13:24).

The word translated in our language as “repentance” belongs to the Greek “metanoia”, from meta meaning after or beyond and nous meaning mind.

It implies a turning point from which we have been, to take a new direction in our lives, a real substantial change.

Only with the process of repentance we can go through the narrow door and have access to the kingdom of God.

But the will to go through the narrow door implies faith. And faith is the will to experience what we so far don’t know.

And what where and when is this “kingdom of God”?.

To simplify the understanding I would say it is the divine realm.

As there is a human realm, there is a divine realm.

Usually, the vast majority of the Earth population lives in the human realm, and very few are capable and want to deal with the divine realm. Partly because they don’t know about it, they have wrong information about it or a deformed one. To a certain extent, it is not their fault.

But Jesus said: “But seek first the kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33).

In other words, seek first to go through the "narrow door" and enter in the divine realm. This divine realm is the environment of the Holy Spirit, (in Greek, Hagios Pneumatos) the one Jesus has, the one He shares with all those who seek it.

In the same way we as bodies need air to breathe to be living, the one who has crossed the narrow door and started dealing with the realm of the divine needs and will have this "new air", which is holy because it belongs to the divine realm, the realm of God, Jesus, the Angels, Mary, the Apostles, the Martyrs.

As humans, we can get sick, feel pain, suffer from different reasons (think about the same Jesus on a day like today) but having the Holy Spirit we can go through all of that in a different way than others.

It is with this Holy Spirit that we can have a new kind of life. It is with this Holy Spirit that miracles (the sudden alteration of the usual way things evolve) could happen, it is with this Holy Spirit in you, that you will be able to perform miracles. Not because of you, but because of the Holy Spirit that is in you. And they happen!

Therefore the kingdom of God is in you. When? Well, every moment of your life.

Sometimes your human nature could tend to constrain the Holy Spirit, (we are imperfect, we can fall to sin) but once you have entered the divine realm I can assure you that God never abandons you. That big is the love of God.

If you have read this message until here, I hope that you will seek to go through the narrow door and enter in the Divine Realm, and then you will receive the blessings of God.

CORONAVIRUS SHOWS THE BEST AND THE WORST OF HUMAN BEINGS

Humanity was not prepared for the pandemic and for an impact as catastrophic as the one we are suffering.

That is why respirators and masks are not enough, and a vaccine –experts say—could take a year or more to be produced.

But in the meantime, the pandemic is showing how the population of the planet as a whole is not prepared for any kind of event that suddenly happens and involves the whole World.

Imagine what would be if we were to deal with an invasion from outer space. Quite frankly, we would be terrified and will succumb as a civilization to the point of extinction.

Now we are at war with an invisible invader that penetrates the human body and creates pneumonia and a lot of deplorable effects with the high possibility of death.

Confronted with this situation, what I see is a bleak outlook.

On one side there are the people who at their personal risk is fighting fiercely for the health of others: doctors, nurses, assistants, police, firefighters, first responders, etc.

People who donate to charities and institutions involved in the well being of those who are sick and their families. People who effectively develop chains of solidarity, sharing and distributing food, clothes, alcohol gel, masks, etc.

People who take the situation with personal responsibility, keep themselves at home, avoid contact with others, maintain social distance, and if they have to leave their homes and have to deal with other people they cover their faces (nose and mouth) with a scarf, a kerchief or a mask provided they have. Those are the most effective measures to combat the spread of the virus.

I see temples, social clubs and stadiums converted in hospitals. That’s the great response of a society where there are people of good heart.

But regretfully, this pandemic is showing us the other face of de-humanizing people.

It is the face of egoism, trying to take the more they can and leaving empty supermarkets and provision centers, hoarding food, disinfectants, toilet paper, and many other goods.

It is the face of irresponsibility, organizing parties, or going on vacation to places where there wouldn't be social distance, facilitating, therefore, the contagion of the virus and its spread in the population.

It is the face of inefficient and/or corrupt governments, that don’t take initiatives to treat the sick, to prevent the spread of the virus among the population, shutting roads, shutting schools and universities, and prohibiting any kind of show and the running of theaters, movies, and sports activities.

It is the face of miserable companies that exploit the situation to overcharge the price of those resources in need as respirators, masks, and medicines, or the selling of those articles to other countries when they are needed in the country where the company belongs.

There is no unity, there is ignorance, there is no awareness of the danger, apparently, there is no fear to die.

And to complete this picture, there are those charlatans that using social media suggest a combination of substances as efficient remedies, or ask for rituals to avoid the virus.

I really think that this pandemic with the coronavirus shows the best and the worst of human beings.

The challenge is to increase the best, and reduce the worst to its minimal expression.

CORONAVIRUS IMPACTS THE PLANET

Friends: it was not so long ago that we wish each other a happy and prosperous year, and suddenly we came across a pandemic that did not go through even the most feverish imagination.

And this is changing society with a tremendous impact.

A movie of the James Bond series that is not released.
Empty cinemas
Baseball matches played at a closed stadium.

University classes taught online so that students do not have to go to a classroom.

Refraining from going to places with a lot of public whether they are outdoors, and much more, indoors.

Hundreds of thousands infected, thousands dead, and the numbers continue to rise.

The sickness expands unstoppable by countries.

Mouth caps are insufficient and a vaccine has not yet been produced .....

I am still on vacation in Uruguay.

When I return to the United States in April, I don't know what my life is going to be like. What panorama I will find.

I hope --God willing-- that my life would be safe, and that after the storm, I could be vaccinated to be safe in the face of possible contagion.

Meanwhile, no measure is exaggerated in terms of hygiene.

Take care.

I want everyone to be fine. May we continue to meet ourselves around this blog.
