It was 1985, Uruguay just came out of a military rule
exceptionally in its history, and recovered freedom and democracy.
The people, peacefully and orderly met in the main avenue
of the capital city –Montevideo—to celebrate the return to what has been
traditional in the country.
Two stages were erected in two places downtown. One in
the Cagancha Square and the other in the intersection of Colonia street and Del
Libertador Avenue.
I was with my family in front of this stage where
performed a number of singers and songwriters from Uruguay and Argentina. But
everybody was waiting for the performance of the famous Spanish singer Juan
Luis Perales.
A little bit late to reach the place coming from the
airport, finally, the artist reached the stage and started his show, adhering
to the celebration of the Uruguayan people and the return to democracy.
At one moment of his performance, some fans started
asking for his tie.
Surprised, the singer said: “What? That you want my tie?”,
and a group of young people replied yes. A little dialog continued and finally,
Perales said: “Ok, here it goes” and throw his tie to the public.
Someone –obviously- got that tie.
What I don’t know until today is who kept the tie of José
Luis Perales.
Would that person have the kindness to answer publicly
this question?
It would be nice, don’t you?
