I have to assume that all the people reading this blog are using the Internet, and yes, we all celebrated when it appeared on the market because it implied a real and strong revolution in the way we communicate with each other.
It also opened the doors to businesses, educational institutions, groups of people with similar interests, and exchanges in medicine, Physics, Math, Biology, Astronomy, Space, etc. etc.
We are all glad to be able to use the Internet. But...and this is a big but, The Internet opened the doors to all and any kind of people.
Regretfully, the humanity is not one, good, honest, earning the money decently. There are criminals, mostly in European second-class countries. Those together with people from India, and places in Africa, are experts in infiltrating our PCs, laptops, or Tablets, and through ingenious tricks or innocent approaches what they want is to have access to our bank accounts to steal our money.
Some other people practice extortion, menacing to reveal details of a life, and asking for money to keep silent.
Some others, create a fake institution and ask you to become a member or associate.
Therefore, we have to keep secret our most important identification numbers, and check with the institution they say they belong to if it is true that they need what we have been requested to.
We can also alert all the institutions that could have our money about some fraudulent claim or transaction that has been put anonymously by some of those cyber-criminals.
Now there is Artificial Intelligence, and with that, it is possible to reproduce a photo or video of us and include what is our voice, asking a friend for money.
Finally, we have to change periodically our passwords and make them as complicated as possible, which would make it really difficult for cyber-criminals to enter our accounts, mail, relationships, etc., etc.
Please be always alert, and install a good security system on your PC, laptop, etc.
Sincerely yours,
Frank Newton
