LAS COSAS QUE IMPORTAN

Cuando presento los videos de la serie “Compartiendo en Video” que subo a YouTube, digo: “Este espacio donde tratamos las cosas que importan”.

Y probablemente muchos de ustedes se han quedado pensando ¿cuáles son esas cosas que importan?

Bien, si ustedes van a YouTube y revisan mis videos pienso que no será difícil darse cuenta cuáles son esas cosas.

No obstante, porque cada asunto que trato es diferente y no hay un orden orgánico desplegado por tema, considero que no es mala idea compartir con ustedes esas cosas que considero relevantes.

Sé que puede sonar como una osadía pero una vez escribí en Twitter: “Descartes dijo: ‘Pienso, luego existo’ y yo digo: ‘Siento, luego soy’”.

Para mí, no es la aptitud de pensar sino la capacidad de sentir lo que nos hace humanos. Porque ese sentir comienza con la capacidad de amar, que es la base que sostiene la existencia misma de la humanidad.

Amor en todas las formas y colores. Amor, como un sentimiento esencial que une y comunica a las personas (familia, amigos, parejas, etc.).

La otra cosa importante es la paz. Sin paz es imposible desarrollarse, sin paz las personas viven una vida miserable. La paz es un benévolo estado de armonía entre los humanos, una relación positiva que construye confianza, empatía y unión.

Y porque la paz es un objetivo a perseguir, la guerra es la antítesis, es el proceso más poderoso de deshumanización. La guerra implica la destrucción de una civilización, una cultura, una etnia, edificios, hogares y cientos de miles de hombres, mujeres, niños y ancianos.

También trato sobre música y poesía, esas expresiones de arte que amo.

Pero la niñez, la juventud, la salud, la adicción a drogas, la violencia, la criminalidad, la corrupción, la producción de videojuegos y sus contenidos, la educación, el humor, los valores, la igualdad, la discriminación, las mujeres, el trabajo, la fe, el perdón, la comunicación, la honestidad, integridad, coherencia, veracidad, felicidad, y el recuerdo de quienes ya no están entre nosotros, todas esas son cosas que importan, y esos son los temas que trato.

Elijo no referirme a la política porque nos divide artificialmente y tiende a crear antagonismos a veces difíciles de superar.

Pero, eventualmente puedo hablar de ideologías, particularmente esas que son destructivas, malignas. Aunque también prefiero dejar este tema a un lado.

Siempre trato de ser servicial, positivo, constructivo. Estoy persuadido de que comparto muchas de vuestras preocupaciones, porque siento profundamente apoyar a quienes están en necesidad, a los que están solos, a los que están de luto, a familias que luchan por sobrevivir, a quienes están en busca de empleo y a los que estudian con ahínco para graduarse y ejercer una profesión.

Como pueden ver, las cosas que importan son las que emergen de estar viviendo y lo que eso implica.

Valoro profundamente vuestra amabilidad en leerme o ver mis videos, y espero que el material que elaboro sea verdaderamente útil para ustedes.

THE THINGS THAT MATTER

When I introduce the videos of the series “Sharing in Video” that I upload on Youtube, I say: “This space where we deal with the things that matter”.

And probably many of you have kept thinking, which are those things that matter?

Well, if you go to Youtube and check my videos I think it won’t be difficult to realize which are those things.

Nevertheless, because each subject that I deal is different and there is not an organic order displayed by the theme, I consider that it is not a bad idea to share with you those issues that I consider relevant.

I know that it could sound like a temerity but once I wrote on Twitter: “Descartes said: ‘I think therefore I exist’ and I say: ‘I feel, therefore I am’”.

For me, it is not the capability of thinking but the capacity of feeling what makes us humans. Because that feeling starts by the capacity to love, which is the base that sustains the very existence of humanity.

Love in all forms and colors. Love, as an essential feeling that unites and communicates people (family, friends, couples, etc.)

The other important thing is peace. Without peace, it is impossible to develop oneself, without peace people live a miserable life. Peace is a gracious state of harmony among humans, a positive relationship that builds confidence, empathy and union.

And because peace is a goal to pursue, war is the antithesis, is the most powerful process of de-humanization. War implies the destruction of a civilization, a culture, an ethnicity, buildings, homes and hundred of thousands men and women, children and the elderly.

I deal also with music and poetry, those expressions of art that I love.

But childhood, youth, health, addiction to drugs, violence, criminality, corruption, the production of video games and movies and their contents, education, humor, values, equality, discrimination, the women, work, faith, forgiveness, communication, honesty, integrity, coherence, reliability, happiness, and the remembrance of those who are no longer with us, all those are things that matter, and those are the issues I deal with.

I choose not to talk about politics because it divides us artificially and tends to create antagonisms sometimes difficult to overcome.

But I can eventually talk about ideologies, particularly those destructive, malignant. Although I also prefer to put this issue aside.

I always try to be helpful, positive, constructive. I am persuaded that I share many of your concerns, because I feel deeply supporting those in need, those who are alone, those who are mourning, and families who struggle to survive, and those who are looking for an employment, and the ones who study with heart and soul hoping to graduate and to have a profession.

As you see, the things that matter are the things that emerge of being living and all that it implies.

I do deeply appreciate your kindness to read me or to see my videos, and I hope that the material I elaborate could be really useful to you.

AÚN HAY ESPERANZA

Hay momentos en que nos sentimos realmente tristes. Momentos en que desmayamos cuando analizamos la situación del mundo, y particularmente de la humanidad.

Cada vez parece ser menos humana, la falta total de ética en las relaciones sociales, el abuso de personas, una estampida del crimen, una explosión de corrupción en todas partes, la expansión de ideologías malignas, el calentamiento mundial, esencialmente la falta de amor, de afecto, de entendimiento y de coraje para pedir perdón, y para perdonar. Todos esos factores mezclados dan como resultado el caos, y un enorme signo de interrogación por el futuro de la especie humana y de la Tierra misma.

No pienso que esté equivocado si digo que las más grandes crisis en todos los órdenes, instituciones e individuos ocurren en Occidente.

Hay una permanente degradación de la sociedad. Es fácil verla mirando TV y las películas producidas por Hollywood donde la violencia alcanza extremos  increíbles.

Y una pregunta salta en nuestras mentes: ¿dónde están los valores que han de permear una sociedad?. ¿Cómo todas esas situaciones y escenas de violencia tienen un lugar en la mente de quienes desarrollan el argumento y el guión para un filme?. ¿Cuál es su idea de entretenimiento? Y ¿qué clase de público necesita escenas de brutalidad, lenguaje sucio, sexo y drogas, para ser entretenido?

¡Occidente está enfermo! Realmente y gravemente enfermo. Y nadie parece darse cuenta de eso, o hay un pequeño grupo de personas que conscientemente se da cuenta de esta espantosa realidad, pero lamentablemente es una minoría, y los intereses económicos prevalecen a la razón.

Oriente es diferente. Sí, desgraciadamente hay corrupción y en algunos países, violencia. Pero es diferente. Aún hay vergüenza, hay valores éticos, el respeto a tradiciones, una forma sencilla de vivir y la búsqueda de auto-superación.

Ellos firmemente sostienen el valor de la familia, y se oponen a la degeneración de la especie camuflada como “derechos humanos”.

Muchos occidentales han estado yendo y continúan dirigiéndose al Oriente para hallar fuentes de desarrollo espiritual.

Esto también ocurre porque la Iglesia Cristiana en Occidente (y con esta mención genérica incluyo a todas las iglesias, la Católica Romana, la Protestante, la Pentecostal, las llamadas Envangélicas, etc.) han fracasado miserablemente en cumplir las demandas del Evangelio. Crecientemente se han secularizado; ya no son la ni la luz del mundo ni la sal de la Tierra. Y eso tiene lamentables consecuencias.

Pero no sería justo a menos que reconozca que dentro de Occidente hay algunas áreas rurales en diferentes países –principalmente en Europa pero también en EE.UU. y en América Latina— que mantienen las tradiciones, y las personas que allí viven respetan a los adultos, son serios en sus responsabilidades con su grupo humano, aprenden a apoyarse mutuamente y mantienen un sentido de unidad.

Es por esto que aún hay esperanza. No todo está perdido con la humanidad. Aún quedan personas y lugares en quienes podemos confiar, confrontando un presente complicado y posiblemente un difícil futuro.

THERE IS STILL HOPE

There are moments in which we feel really sad. Moments in which we dismay when we analyze the state of the World, and particularly the humanity.

Every time seems to be less human, the totally lack of ethics in social relations, the abuse of people, a stampede of crime, an explosion of corruption everywhere, the expansion of evil ideologies, the global warming, essentially lack of love, of affection, of understanding and the lack of courage to ask for forgiveness, and to forgive. All these mixed factors give as a result chaos, and an enormous sign of interrogation for the future of the human species and the Earth itself.

I don’t think I am wrong if I say that the biggest crisis in all orders, institutions and individuals happens in Occident. 

There is a permanent degradation of the society. It’s easy to see it looking at TV and the movies produced by Hollywood where violence reaches incredible extremes. 

And a question jumps into our minds: where are the values that have to permeate a society? How all those situations and scenes of violence have a place in the minds of those who develop the argument and script for a film? What is their idea of entertainment?  And what kind of public needs scenes of brutality, bad language, sex and drugs, to be entertained?

Occident is sick! Really and gravely sick. And nobody seems to realize that. Throughout the planet there is a small group of people that consciously realize this dreadful reality but regretfully it is a minority, and the economic interests prevail over  reason.

Orient is different. Yes, unfortunately there is also corruption and in certain countries, violence. But it is different. Still there is shame, there are ethical values, the respect of traditions, a simpler way of living, and the searching for self-improvement.

They firmly sustain the unity and the validity of family, and oppose the degeneration of the species disguised as “human rights”.

Many westerners have been going and continue going to Orient to find sources of spiritual development.

This also happens because the Christian Church in Occident (and with this generic mention I include all the churches, the Roman Catholic, the Protestant, the Pentecostal, the so-called Evangelical, etc.) have miserably failed to fulfill the demands of the Gospel. They have increasingly secularized themselves, they are no longer the light of the World neither the salt of the Earth. And that have regrettable consequences.

But I wouldn’t be fair unless I do recognize that within Occident, there are some rural areas in different countries –mainly in Europe but also in the United States of America and in Latin America— that keep traditions, and the people living there respect the adults, are serious in their responsibilities with their human group, they learn to be supportive of one another and keep a sense of unity.

That is why there is still hope. Not all is lost with humanity. Still remain people in many places whom we can trust, confronting a troubled present and possible a difficult future.
