I don’t know about you and your country but I can
assure that here in the United States of America, it’s Christmas time.
You find it on TV because many channels have special
programming based on the spirit of Christmas. It's "that time of the year".
But even better you find it in the people. I went to
a store to change one item I bought because I needed a different size, and the
seller told me: “in the Spirit of Christmas, don’t pay the difference for
this”, and he told so to the cashier. I thanked him so much and I wished him
Merry Christmas.
People are smiling everywhere, and you feel there is
an expression of goodwill.
That is the Spirit of Christmas. One that leads to
looking at each other with benevolence, with friendliness, trying to make
things going easy, overcoming discrepancies and practicing random acts of
kindness and forgiveness.
Quite sincerely, if during this time of the year you
are not able or capable to develop such Spirit, you can't fully celebrate
Christmas, because after all, we celebrate the birthday of Jesus, that special
human/divine being, who choose to give himself instead of beginning or
instigate a violent rebellion.
That Jesus who proclaimed LOVE as the greatest
commandment of God. Love that unites us, that connects us, that binds us together
and inspires us to do the best for others positively and constructively.
Love that builds up fraternity and not division or
separation.
Love that leads us to respect nature, our human
fellows, animals, plants, the soil and the air, the whole environment, and even
Space.
All that is included in the Spirit of Christmas.
I wish you could have and share this Spirit, and
celebrate Christmas with peace in your mind and joy in your heart. Merry
Christmas!!!
